The townhouses prioritise the use of sustainable materials, which means that they have less embodied energy than other buildings.
The homes use roof mounted solar panels and heat pumps instead of gas to provide energy. Mechanical ventilated heat recovery and natural ventilation are used to provide efficient year-round comfort to all internal spaces.

The project seeks to set a new standard in innovative and sustainable homes in a semi-rural setting. 45 climate-positive homes are proposed at Lane End.
The off-site construction method proposed will enable these homes to tread lightly upon the earth, and will require little energy to heat or cool.
It will also minimize the impact of construction on local residents and wildlife. The project has a responsibility to safeguard existing habitats where possible, and the design of the masterplan has ensured that buildings do not encroach into root protection areas or wildlife corridors.
